A mixed lawn bowls club, Sandgate Bowls Club was founded in 1914 and is located in Burnett Place, off of Brighton Road. Our three greens, 21 rinks, and spacious clubhouse and bar provide warm, welcoming, and top-notch amenities for our bowlers, social members, guests, and visitors. They are currently among of the best in the neighbourhood.
The club can host barefoot bowl competitions or parties and has a sizable function area and meeting spaces for rent.
Our two greens have lights so that night bowling is possible. Every March and September, the club hosts a popular 4-weeknight Corporate Cup competition that is accessible to everyone in the community, including individuals, businesses, and sports teams. Send the club an email to register your squad.
Lawn Bowls has been given new life. All generations, including Gen X, Gen Y, and Baby Boomers, now enjoy playing the game. A rise in both the quantity and age of participants has been attributed to coloured uniforms, media attention, and a less formal environment.
Lawn bowling enhances self-esteem, confidence, coordination, and physical fitness. It is a game that requires both talent and strategy. Both social and competitive play can be at many different levels. The Sandgate Men’s and Women’s teams have won numerous district and interclub events over the years, and the current players work hard to maintain the high level of bowling.
The Sandgate Bowls Club provides a fun, family-friendly atmosphere with the added advantage of outdoor, healthy exercise.
